Scrap Metal Prices
There are many reources on the net for scrap metal prices, but most are hard to understand or are very useless for the common person looking to cash their scrap metal in for cold, hard cash.
Another problem is that in different areas in the country there is a substantial difference in scrap metal prices from scrap metal purchasers.
One more final problem you may encounter with scrap metal pricing is simply the size of the scrap yard you are dealing with. Most times a smaller local yard will give less money per pound for your scrap metal and then turn around a sell it to a larger scrap metal yard. If you are fortunate enought to have a larger scrap metal buyer in your area you can basically “cut out” the middleman and get the higher price.
Some scrap metal yards also reward you by paying you a higher amount for your scrap metal based on the quantity of the metal…for example, they may pay you $3 for a pound of copper, but if you have over 100 pounds of copper, the price may go up to $3.05 per pound, which adds up quickly!
At any rate, you can now understand the complexity of the scrap metal business, and the severe fluctuation of scrap metal pricing.
We will try to add a local estimate of the current scrap metal prices from time to time, but more than likely it is just going to be a very loose estimate of what your local scrap purchaser may pay.
